At an elegant brunch event that saw a number of women taking their positions confidently and proudly, Brutal Fruit finally launched its ground-breaking new campaign “#YouBelong”. The launch was well attended by Mzansi’s super power women in different fields of professions and paved way for women’s inclusion in various fields of society.

With all Covid protocols strictly observed, the fabulously fruity Brutal Fruit celebrated Mzansi’s sheroes’ self-worth with a guest list including leading Instagram Influencers, key industry stakeholders, along with fashion and lifestyle media.

Brutal Fruit’s YouBelong campaign is an open invitation to all superwomen to embrace our inherent power, get comfortable with our intrinsic value, and recognise that we are worthy of the spaces in which we find ourselves – anywhere and everywhere, anytime and every time, with anyone and everyone.

The campaign is aimed at calling for women to take up the space and to belong, bringing confidence to own their throne in various fields be it in the boardroom or within their circle of friends for find that sense of belonging.

Colleen Duvenage, Brutal Fruit Marketing Manager, elaborated on the reasoning behind the creation of this campaign, and what it means for women of South Africa at large. “Brutal Fruit’s YouBelong campaign is making clear to SA superwomen what we, as a brand, known to be absolutely true – as women, we belong, just as we are.  Underlying this fact is a strong sense of self-acceptance and our YouBelong campaign is here to accompany SA sheroes on this journey.

“This has more meaning than I’ve ever created before, and being a woman, I can resonate with the meaning of belonging and this tension we feel as women and pressure to show up and to belong but we often feel like we don’t. I’m really proud of this piece of work, I feel like it will inspire South African women and really give them the confidence to own themselves”, added Duvenage.

Hosted by Thando Thabethe, the brunch featured a glamorously inspirational panel including Brutal Fruit brand and campaign representatives, as well as Glamour SA’s Glamour’s Most Glamorous 2019 award winner Siyanda Dzenga; digital entrepreneur and womanist, Lerato Kgamanye; super-talented songstress Thabsie; and rising actress and lover of life, Kamo Modisakeng. The panellists covered topics critical to a 2020 woman’s sense of self-acceptance, value, and power, including body image, authenticity in opposition to social media’s implicit illusions, and lifestyle challenges such as finding a work-life balance.

One of Mzansi’z rising talent Kamo Modisakeng who is also featured in the campaign, has been with the Brutal Fruit brand for a while now, and highlights the importance of women to own the space and be heard.

YouBelong means not being afraid to knock on doors because you think you won’t fit in. YouBelong means putting your head up high, chin up and no matter what people say or discourage you, for whatever reasons they feel they may want to discourage you and people will say things not because they’re true to who you are, but because they don’t want to ever see you excel further than them or do better than them. YouBelong is just merely saying, you lay your own limitations, understand if you want to be there you actually can be there because you belong there”, said brand influencer Kamo Modisakeng.

Award-winning philanthropist, specialist anaesthesiologist and founder of The Dr Pashy Foundation, Dr Patience Ntshani, served as the keynote speaker and provided an eye-opening address which left everyone in attendance invigorated and inspired emotionally and mentally, her address touched on women in business and maintaining our uniquity and equity as a gender.

Brutal Fruit Ruby Apple Spritzer got developed in 2018 and was designed to bring sophistication to the category of spritzers. It stands out in the crowd as it offers that sophistication and elegance, serving women who go for taste and class.
