Nike is excited to invite Soweto to play at their new sports facility, SHAPA Soweto with the aim of inspiring and empowering the next generation of athletes. 

SHAPA, a multi-disciplinary centre that provides the community of Soweto with a variety of sports facilities including a 400m running track, training studio and dance studios, a skate park, two FIFA-accredited football fields, and two small-sided fields. 

The new facility will be powered by a strong Nike collective including athletes, trainers, choreographers, celebrated football, and local sports coaches. The programming includes a drive to create safe spaces for women enabling access, growth, and development of female athletes across all sporting codes. 

The Nike Football Training Centre (FTC) was unveiled in 2010 coinciding with the FIFA World Cup. The aim of the Nike FTC was to inspire and grow the next generation of football players in Soweto. Since inception, the Nike FTC has served over 20 000 young athletes.

Nike will do this by providing guidance and access to sport and cultural facilities that provide innovation that accelerates growth and provide equal opportunities to all athletes thereby playing sports the fabric of youth culture.
