This Pride Month Tholo Motaung aka “The Inimitable One” elevates LGBTQI conversations in Africa

The first season of The Real Queer Talk took off on Dream Stream online platform towards the end of last year, subsequently its YouTube channel was started. It proved to be a desired talk show within the LGBTQI+ community and the society as it was positively welcomed.
Through the engagement with viewers it was evident that another season is needed. The second season was recently launched in an opulent Soiree that was attended by prominent guests from various civil society organisations, political parties, media and guests who will be appearing on this seasons.
It is 30 years into democracy and many LGBTQI+ persons in South Africa are still struggling with how society perceive them due to belief systems, preconceived ideas and lack of knowledge among other limitations.
Furthermore we have seen some African countries passing Bills that stand against the right of LGBTQI+ communities. Tholo Motaung has also been engaging other activists from different parts of the world such as UK, USA, Ghana, Uganda, etc. in commemorating LGBTQI+ History Month in February 2024.
“In a political landscape where the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals are often under threat, my decision to host a talk show of this nature is significant. As queer people we need to champion initiatives that will educate the society about the importance of being inclusive. I will continuously do this by amplifying the voices of the LGBTQI+ community in different spaces, to ensure that our rights are protected and respected.” said Tholo Motaung
This season is coming up at an apt time for thorough engagement on pertinent issues within the community while educating the entire society about the LGBTQI+ community. The show further explore the milestones and successes achieved by some of the guests. It is a definite add on in celebrating the 2024 Pride Month in a meaningful way.
