The Green Youth Network is proud to announce the 10th Annual Green Youth Indaba (GYI), taking place from 19–20 June 2025 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), under the theme: A Decade of Action: Driving Sustainable Innovation.

Marking a decade of youth-led climate action, innovation, and green entrepreneurship, the Green Youth Indaba has become South Africa’s leading platform for amplifying the voices of young changemakers within the green economy.

This year’s edition is set to be the most anticipated convening yet, bringing together over 500 delegates, 60 speakers and 50 exhibitors, including young climate activists, innovators, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and corporate leaders.

Held in alignment with Youth Day, commemorated annually on June 16, a day of remembrance and inspiration in South Africa — this year’s Indaba launches with a series of impact-driven pre-event activities from 16–18 June, leading up to the main Indaba programme. These include a Beach Clean-Up at Dakota Beach, mobilising young volunteers in a powerful show of environmental responsibility and civic action, the Green Youth Careers Expo, showcasing green career pathways, bursaries, and internship opportunities for learners in Grade 9 – 12, and workshops covering wastepreneur, agriculture and food security, water conservation, and renewable energy solutions.

“As we celebrate a decade of the Green Youth Indaba, we arere not just marking time — we are celebrating a movement that has shifted the narrative of youth in climate action and the green economy. Over the past 10 years, we have had the privilege of convening over 26,000 young participants, supporting the development of over 1,140 green-focused SMEs, and directly engaging with more than 100,000 school learners through our outreach and education programmes.

What began as a grassroots youth initiative has grown into one of the most impactful green youth platforms in the country. The Indaba has become a launchpad for ideas, leaders, and enterprises advancing environmental justice and sustainable innovation. As we look ahead, we’re doubling down on our mission to localise the green economy, transform communities, and invest in the next generation of climate leaders,” – Mr Sanele Zulu, CEO of Green Youth Network and Founder of Green Youth Indaba.

Members of the public, youth leaders, stakeholders, and the media are encouraged to attend and be part of shaping a more sustainable future. For full programme details, visit: www.greenyouthindaba.co.za and for ticket registration, visit https://bit.ly/GYIRegistration.
