AXE celebrates Robot Boii x GQ Cover

AXE recently celebrated Robot Boii GQ cover for the month of October at the Opera Bar Lounge in Rosebank, Johannesburg, as one of South Africa’s most versatile and influential talents. The event marked a milestone in his flourishing partnership with a leading personal care brand, showcasing the power of ambassadorial relationships built on confidence, authenticity, and innovation.
Fresh from his electrifying participation at Comic Con Africa 2024 last month, his impactful role in a youth-focused school programme, and his recent feature on the cover of GQ magazine’s October Mental Health issue, Robot Boii, surrounded by friends and family, took the evening to reflect on the successes and the meaningful journey shared with his collaborators.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
Robot Boii is celebrated for his multi-faceted talents as a dancer, musician, comedian, and podcast host. “He’s more than just a talent; he represents staying grounded while continually leveling up,” remarked Ameena Mhatey, AXE’s Brand Representative. “His authenticity and ability to connect with audiences make him the perfect collaborator for us.”
Together, they have embarked on a mission to resonate with Gen Z audiences, blending creativity with personal care in a way that speaks to today’s youth. This partnership is proving to be a blueprint for modern ambassadorial relationships, successfully merging style, culture, and empowerment.
Empowering Youth: The School Programme
Central to this collaboration has been Robot Boii’s involvement in a school programme aimed at empowering young men across South Africa. Through this initiative, Robot Boii engages with students, encouraging them to embrace personal hygiene and confidence.
“I’m excited to be part of something bigger – teaching young students how to take care of themselves, stay fresh, and be confident in who they are,” said Robot Boii. His school visits, featuring live performances and engaging conversations, have been a highlight for students across the country.
A Proud Moment: Gracing the Cover of GQ
As a culmination of his impactful year, Robot Boii graced the cover of GQ magazine’s October Mental Health issue. In this exclusive feature, he opened up about his upbringing, career journey, and the importance of staying connected to his roots while pushing boundaries in the entertainment industry. His candid conversation about mental health, growth, and resilience underscores the values he shares with his partner brand – authenticity, confidence, and self-expression.
An Evening of Celebration at Opera Bar Lounge
This partnership highlights the importance of aligning with ambassadors who embody shared values. Together, they are reshaping narratives of self-confidence and authenticity in today’s world.
Addressing guests and members of the media at the launch on Wednesday, Robot Boii had this to say: “I don’t really people fall in love with you because of what you do, but because of who you’re. And the whole brand of Robot Boii stems from that aspiration; a God Given kid who just want to portray his God-given talent.”
Emphasizing the importance of authenticity, Robot Boii added: “We live in a world where there’s too much fake, there’s too much aesthetics, too much of ‘try to look like what you not’, and all that I’ve ever lived by is ‘be you’. There’s going to he a lot of people that do what you do, but there’s only one of you. And that’s my message as far as a what I do goes. The talent can always be replaced, but you can never be replaced as a person. For me this means that; being on the cover of GQ, October being Mental Health Month, the work I do with kids, the schools and the influence, it’s everything aligning with who I am – over and above what I can do. The music become extra, the dancing becomes extra, but my heart is representative of all that I do. And I appreciate a brand like AXE coming on board and seeing that potential, and understanding that this is how we can communicate the message as brands.”
