The David Tlale x Avon Exotic Summer Collection, titled: I move to my own rhythm; watch me now has finally been launched at an exclusive by-invitation-only show recently held at the African Pride Hotel in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.

Bringing some of South Africa’s A-list personalities to this lavish show, the collaboration between the global beauty brand Avon and the trailblazer designer David Tlale, unveiled an exotic summer collection from a range of clothing, accessories, designer perfumes, signature hang bags and male swimwear.

Avon Justine’s Managing Director Mafahle Mareletse explained the journey travelled to this collaboration with David Tlale, which started back in 2018, with an exciting view to collaborate fashion with their beauty products as a woman-lead beauty brand.

“Our role is to walk beside women as they become the people they want and are meant to be; the heroes of their own stories. Watch me now sends a message that Avon exists to empower and enable women on their journey to self-actualisation”, added Mafahle Mareletse, MD Avon Justine.

This collection is everything a man and woman should have in their possession – bringing a scent of freshness, beauty and elegance this summer time, which is a flair we are all looking for since the COVID19 pandemic which robbed us of glam and looking good at the same time.

“We’re very excited about this new collection. It’s an honour to be associated with a global brand like Avon and to have this opportunity to bring the spirit of couture to the streets”, said David Tlale, South Afrcia’s fashion guru.

Amongst the clothing and accessories pieces, other highlights to this launched collection include the Exotic for Him and Her fragrances by David Tlale, representing a note of glamour.

Exotic for Him includes the provocative scent of blackcurrant and a seductive note of plum, both of which simmer on a warm base of sandalwood. On the other hand, Exotic for Her, which is formulated on a base of sensual rose and jasmine – features a sultry of peach and mandarin and ends on a fiery note of amber.

Although the beauty brand could not operate fully during the COVID19 lockdown as it was not an essential service, Avon remained open for business by leveraging off established relationships and building new ones in the digital space. This resulted in increased sales through e-commerce platforms, as customers move to new ways of engaging with the brand. It is anticipated this capability will continue to expand furthermore.

“Our brand embodies the power of beauty in the power of woman, the power of innovation, the power of activism and the power of value. It gave women the power to earn their own incomes before they had a right to vote and has since become a major supporter of woman-based and woman-focused activism”, said Momin Hukamdad, Marketing Director for Avon South Africa.

Having customers whose loyalty solely lies with the beauty brand Avon, this led to the brand being voted the Coolest Cosmetics Brand in the Sunday Times Next Generation awards for ten years running, and the brand seeks to continue on its winning streak.

The Avon’s iThemba Walkathon – which raises awareness in the fight against breast cancer, will this year take place virtually at the end of October and participants are encouraged to register online and be part of the walkathon.
