Tastic rice has announced to hosting of its heritage festival this coming November, as another way of celebrating the spirit of generosity through partnership with musician Thandiswa Mazwi, headlining the festival that is aimed at giving South African students an opportunity to bursary funding of their studies in institutions of higher learning.

The Tiger Brands’ rice brand came up with thus festival to raise funds for needy students in tertiary institutions, for their tuition fees during their academic studies. These are students in different disciplines that are battling to finance their studies across the country. As we may all he aware, many students from disadvantaged backgrounds are facing massive difficulties in accessing funding to further their higher education studies, forcing many not to complete and seek job opportunities.

We are proud of the great work that Tastic has done to mobilise South African artists, leaders, and nationals to work together in celebrating our heritage and raising funds for our bursary program,” says Thembi Sehloho, Marketing Director of Pasta and Rice, during the announcement of the festival which had performances by Mzansi’s icon Thandiswa Mazwai and the legendary Ihhashi Elimhlophe.

 

Set to take place on Saturday November 5th at the Imperial Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, the festival will also feature Thebe, Trompies, Zoë Mogida, Dr Rebecca Malope, The Soil, Ihhashi Elimhlophe, Prince Kaybee, Black Motion, Ntokozo Mbambo, Mango Grove, PJ Powers and the forver loved Boom Shaka.

This promises to be the festival with a genuine purpose, all in aid to eradicate inequalities amongst underprivileged individuals in communities – to access quality education. It is said that education is the only weapon that can change a home, community and eventually the country, in changing lives of the young people. Consumers are encouraged to partake in this initiative by buying their tickets for this worthy cause, supporting students on on their educational journey.
