With profound heartbreak, deep sorrow and overwhelming shock, the Stock family, alongside the rest of South Africa, is mourning the tragic and untimely death of their beloved Warrick “Warras” Stock.
Warrick, a respected South African media personality, activist and businessman, was brutally murdered on the morning of Tuesday, 16 December 2025, in downtown Johannesburg. The senseless and violent nature of his death has left his family devastated and struggling to comprehend a world without him.
A devoted son, a loving and proud father, a cherished brother and uncle, Warrick (40) was the heart and anchor of his family. Affectionately known as DJ Warras and to many as “The Shady Lurker,” he was a vibrant presence who brought light, laughter, and strength into every space he entered. His warmth, generosity and influence extended far beyond his home, earning him deep respect and love from friends, colleagues and the wider South African entertainment community.
Warrick is survived by his three young children, his mother and his siblings, whose lives have been irrevocably changed by this profound loss.
As the family begins the painful journey of mourning, they humbly request privacy, compassion and understanding during this unimaginably difficult time. They also respectfully ask that the South African Police Service be afforded the space and support necessary to conduct a thorough investigation into this tragic crime, so that justice may be served.
At present, the family is not in a position to appoint a spokesperson. They ask to be kept in the thoughts and prayers of the public as they navigate this deep and painful loss.
The Stock family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, messages of support and condolences received since the news of Warrick’s passing became public. This kindness, compassion and solidarity have provided moments of comfort during an incredibly dark time.
Details regarding memorial and funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
With love, gratitude and broken hearts,
The Stock Family
