Maira Koutsoudakis, CEO of Life Grand Group which incorporates the most popular, vibrant and stylish Life Grand Café, an interior design and hospitality company prides herself as had made significant strides in the hospitality and design sector – having successfully opened and operated her lifestyle brand for 10 years.
We sat down with Maira, on the first sunny Friday of spring at a buzzing Life Grand Café Waterfall Corner establishment, to find out how she has managed to successfully run this lifestyle food hospitality business which attracts high-end type of patron for an experience of fine exquisite dining and lively vibes that the establishment offers.
Koutsoudakis tells us how she started this journey, having worked at DSGN, a design firm and grew her passion to open and operate her lifestyle and food hospitality business, of which it has grown immensely across the country in major cities including Johannesburg, Pretoria and the mother city, Cape Town.
“For a very long time, I have always been captivated by the pleasure of lifestyle and the business of design, taking what is instinctive and converting it into a contextually relevant and commercially viable business. I had so much passion for design and architecture, and the business of food hospitality, not just food but the lifestyle business of it”, said the proud CEO of Life Grand Group, Maira Koutsoudakis.
The Greek-South African born and bred businesswoman, mother and wife, applauds the success of the business to the staff of over 500 men and women employed at her 5 restaurants across the country, situated in Waterfall Corner, Mall of Africa, Mall of the South, V&A Waterfront and Pretoria. This is contributed by the right attitude the team brings and experiences they offer every patron who comes in for not only good food but the ambience that comes with refreshing scenery, while in company of good music.
“COVID-19 pandemic has been the worst for our business, having to keep the staff home and motivate them that the storm will be over and we’ll be able to operate again was not an easy one, however, we had to comply with the regulations and carefully open up under strict hygiene protocols to ensure our staff and patrons are safe at all time”, Maira added.
Plans to grow the interior design and lifestyle food hospitality brand are exciting, including the expansion of other brand under the umbrella company, that will see not only job creation but the continued experiences that the design and lifestyle hospitality group continues to offer its patrons exclusivity and the value for money experience.
