South Africa’s most loved beer giant Castle Lite has collaborated with trendy premium sneaker brand Bathu to launch what is deemed as a fashionable, comfy and ready-to-run-the-streets sneaker edition that consumers can look forward to purchase and experience this offering by the brands.
This limited edition of Castle Lite x Bathu sneaker is a collaboration that ignites the expression of one’s individuality in style, customized to your own desired taste. This cool edition comes in a 2000 pair of limited edition which is available for purchase at Bathu stores, as well as the online store.
“We are a shoe brand that tells a proudly African story, Castle Lite is proudly a premium beer brand and they’re about uplifting other brands as well and what I love is that it’s not only about them – they take others with. They looked at Bathu and what we have done over the years, and wanted to help us tell our story better through their audience as well and that’s where this collaboration started”, said Founder and CEO of Bathu, Theo Baloyi.
Bathu journey started way back in 2015, by entrepreneur and founder of the brand Theo Baloyi, and it has become the most preferred and popular sneaker brand for many, as a cool sneaker that actually goes with anything. With a vision to establish a premium brand that Africans can affiliate with, Bathu sneaker started in a room in Alexander township, North of Johannesburg in a quest to create sustainable jobs and reignite hope amongst the community.

“People have received our brand very well in the market and more importantly because of the brand promise and the story it resonates with a lot of people, people can connect with and I think people have been longing for a brand that they can relate with and when we launched people felt like we are for them – finally a brand that is for them, that can relate with them”, added Theo Baloyi.
The brands say that this sneaker has been created with their target market in mind, someone who doesn’t to be restricted or boxed in, as it carries a theme, “Unbox yourself with Castle Lite and Bathu”.
“There is nothing better than stepping out in something that gives you confidence, something representative of your personality. Castle Lite has always been the beer brand that pushes boundaries and together with Theo Baloyi, we have managed to design something that did just that. The Castle Lite x Bathu collab enables consumers to have fun and look good doing it”, elaborated Silke Bucker, Brand Director at Castle Lite.
Amongst the range the sneaker brand has, this includes the flagship Mesh edition which has kiddies range, the Mesh 2.0 edition mostly designed for exercising, the Journey sneaker edition which comes in leather and suede, and the recently launched Moja edition, a summer edition which also embraces a township story.
