Wesley Grobler, Chief Executive Officer at The Houghton Hotel – having started his journey in the hospitality industry at Westcliffe, Four Seasons and The Saxon hotel before joining The Houghton Hotel as a General Manager. He also formed and ran his hospitality consulting firm. Grobler emphasized the need to put in more work and effort to achieve the best results in any business.

“On our opening evening, we took a thousand people through the entire hotel for one massive site inspection, it was a phenomenal success and from there we hit the ground running, we never stopped. We filled the hotel for the first three days 100% occupancy with a corporate group and fortunate for us they understood we’ve just opened and we working through some teething issues, but we learned a lot about the business, our people and how the business moves from the design phase to actually operations”, explains Wesley Grobler, CEO at The Houghton Hotel.
“With our approach in opening up in a phased approach, we are opening up certain sectors of the hotel within the regulations of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. The idea is to grow the operation, so essentially. We have a fully operational hotel as we stand now with limitations in terms of capacity and social distancing, but we want to be the hotel that stands out after the pandemic, we want to be the hotel that people will think of as the first to mind”, added Grobler.
The hotel maintains its position to remain the premier destination for travelers from locally and from abroad, providing the well-expressed offering in a fulfilling manner that will have you coming back for more, while remaining relevant in ensuring the hotel stands out from the rest and improves the standards as an urban resort in Johannesburg.
